Lexington, KY...

Save the light, strike the set, that's a wrap.

It's been a killer week of assignments: 4 days in Nashville and one very long day in Lexington, KY.
Hit the road early tomorrow for Atlanta then it's back in the saddle on Wednesday.

On assignment...

EXT.  DESERT -- DAY.

Somewhere in a heat scorched desert, where the road turns to dust,
a car streaks by into a blazing white sun...

Well... we are really somewhere in Georgia tucked away in a beautiful home shooting for a wonderful magazine.

RIFFXI

There is no other way to begin this post than to say we are deeply honored.

We are honored to have been given the chance to tell the stories of 3 amazing women:
Anna Mann, Sonia Kendrick and Althea Raiford.

Thanks go to them for trusting us to present their stories honestly. Their courage to lay themselves bare, to share their experiences of what it was like being in war and coming home and finding themselves changed in ways they could not at first understand, was humbling for us.

Making TERRA FIRMA challenged us in many ways. We wanted to push our own documentary filmmaking skill set to the edge and then see how much further we could go beyond that. It was not always easy, but we came out on the other side intact and still together.  Knowing what these three women went through, what other veterans have gone through, what they are still going through, guided us through our darkest days- we could not allow ourselves to give up on our mission to get this project completed. And that is what kept us going.

Thank you to the staff of the Rome International Film Festival for selecting the film, and to all those involved in giving TERRA FIRMA the Special Jury Award for Documentary Feature Film and presenting us with one of the best festival statues, The Sylvia.

The award is for a thoughtful film that raises awareness about an important issue from a sensitive vantage point.

All Roads Lead To ROME!

A brief history...

Our first film, the documentary short FARM! was an Official Selection at RIFF 2009.

Shot entirely on a Flip Ultra, (really), we were pretty blown away by how good it looked on the DeSoto Theatre screen.

And we got the film bug...

Encouraged, we acquired a better camera and got to work.

In 2011 we released the feature length
documentary GROW!.

GROW! was an official selection at RIFF 2011 and went on to win Best American Documentary.

Which brings us to this:

Our third documentary film to be accepted into the Rome International Film Festival.

We are honored to be an Official Selection at RIFF 2014 with TERRA FIRMA.

See you there.

On location- TERRA FIRMA- Woodland CA

When we arrived at this location it was still dark. We shot the opening title sequence and later, as the sun rose, we got footage for the "Drive On" montage sequence.
